About State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation
State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Reservoir Geology and Exploitation (SKLOGRGE) was applied jointly by Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and Southwest Petroleum University (SWPU) in 1988 and approved by Chinese Government in 1990. It is the earliest state-level laboratory in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation in China. Until now, SKLOGRE has become an important base for high-level scientific research, academic exchange and geologists and oil and gas engineer training.
Since it targeting and applying basic research frontier of complex oil and gas reservoirs and unconventional oil and gas resources (such as ocean deep water reservoir, shale gas, coalbed methane, gas hydrate etc.), the laboratory focuses on scientific research of oil and gas exploration and development, in an effort to cultivate and bring a group of innovative researchers together. Additionally, making breakthroughs in forward-looking basic and original research, improving the core competitiveness and promoting the sustainable development of China’s oil and gas industry are also significantly valued by SKLORGE. Thereby, it dedicates itself to solving the key scientific and technical problems of oil and gas exploration and development for meeting the national important energy resources strategic demand.
With its orientation, integrating the discovering, understanding, developing, protecting and transforming oil and gas reservoirs, SKLOGRGE established five research directions. They are: 1) dynamics and hydrocarbon accumulation theories of petroliferous basins, 2) geological theories and prediction technologies of oil and gas reservoirs, 3) exploitation theories and methods of complex oil and gas reservoirs, 4) theories and key technologies of drilling and completion of complex oil and gas reservoirs, and 5) development theories and key technologies of deep-sea gas hydrate.
Since 2010, the laboratory has received 9 National Science and Technology Awards, 23 provincial and ministerial level Science and Technology Awards, 246 authorized National invention Patent, 75 access to software copyright. More than 50 monographs and textbooks and over 1500 SCI indexed papers have been published in home and abroad.
All above is achieved by an invigorating and innovative research team, which is well organized both in age and knowledge structure with strong team spirit. Currently, there are 99 researchers, including two academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, of which 90 percent have doctoral degrees, 69 are professors, and 33 percent are research backbones under 40 years old.
The academic committee consists of ten professors and six of them are academician. Baojun Liu and Yongsheng Ma both are from Chinese Academy of Science. Baojun Liu is the honorary director while Yongsheng Ma is the chief director. Academician Shouwei Zhou from Chinese Academy of Engineering is in charge of the laboratory.
